In mid-June, Perplexity launched Labs , a new feature that expands its search response to include complete generative projects : dashboards, reports, lightweight websites, or code-based analytics, all starting from a natural prompt. .
What does Labs do?
Instead of answering simple questions, Labs allows you to create complex workflows directly:
- “Generate a dashboard with sales data and work with both graphs.”
- “Write a script to analyze my Excel file”
- “Develop a static website with this layout and these functions”
All within the standard Perplexity interface, without leaving the app .
Innovation and challenges
- No-code/low-code approach : democratizes advanced creation for non-technical users.
- Exportable projects : you can share the result or run it outside of Perplexity Labs.
- Learning curve : learning prompt engineering for complex flows will be key.
- Current limitations : we only work in Pro, and the resources cannot be compared to a full IDE.
Featured use cases
- Freelancers can automate reports, websites, and scripts.
- Startups save on development by creating MVPs immediately.
- Data professionals create visual analyses with text.
