AIs that no longer look like AIs: the rise of invisible interfaces

IAs que ya no parecen IAs: el auge de las interfaces invisibles

Brain Code |

We are witnessing a silent but radical transition: AI interfaces are disappearing. Or rather, they are becoming invisible. What does this mean?

From prompt to contextual integration

Until recently, interacting with AI meant opening an app, typing a prompt, and waiting for a response. But increasingly, AIs are being integrated directly into our tools and workflows, anticipating our needs without us having to explicitly ask.

Examples:

  • Gmail already suggests emails you haven't even started writing.

  • Word rephrases a text for you without you asking.

  • Browsers like Arc Browser include assistants that summarize what you are reading in real time.

Why is it important?

  • Improve the user experience : the value is in the result, not in the process of invoking it.

  • It reduces cognitive friction : you don't have to think about how to ask, the AI is there, present and ready.

  • Towards ambient intelligence : we are entering the era of “ambient intelligence”, where the environment is sensitive, proactive and adaptive.

This change also raises new challenges: how do we ensure user control? Where is the line between help and surveillance?
