Since OpenAI launched the option to create custom GPTs, new business uses have been appearing every week . But what are companies actually doing with this feature?
1. Customer service with a personalized tone
Companies are creating trained GPTs using their manuals, FAQs, and internal guides. This provides automated support that responds like a real brand agent , without the need for external training.
2. Automation of reports and analysis
GPTs trained with spreadsheets, dashboards, and reports allow employees to ask directly about their own data : "How was sales performance in April?"
3. Internal training and onboarding
A single GPT can incorporate all of a company's onboarding content. New employees ask directly about policies, structure, or processes.
4. In-house legal or financial assistant
Several firms are using GPTs with specific legal bases, contracts, or internal regulations. They function as automated consultants , capable of analyzing clauses or generating drafts.
And what about security?
OpenAI claims that custom GPTs do not use your data to further train the base model, but many companies add extra layers of privacy or deploy models in local environments (such as Azure OpenAI).
