Microsoft has taken a decisive step in the evolution of conversational artificial intelligence. Copilot, its AI-powered digital assistant, has just received a series of updates that bring it much closer to the behavior of a real human assistant. And, they bring it considerably closer to ChatGPT, Gemini, or Perplexity, where the comparison always ends.
With features reminiscent of ChatGPT but adapted to the Microsoft ecosystem, Copilot becomes a more visual, proactive, and personalized tool capable of interacting with both the digital and physical worlds. Below, we show you all its new features in bullet points, with clear examples of how they can help you in your daily life.
-
🧠 Personalized memory:
Copilot can remember information about you to provide a more personalized experience. This is one of the aspects we explain in more detail at Brain in our Microsoft Copilot programs . This memory doesn't just store simple data like your favorite food or a friend's birthday; it also learns about your interests, communication style, and recurring tasks. Everything is stored securely, and you can review, edit, or delete this information whenever you want from a control panel. If you tell it that you work in digital marketing and are interested in SEO news, Copilot will prioritize that type of content when you request news, explanations, or ideas. -
🎭 Visual customization of the assistant:
Soon, Copilot's visual elements will be customizable. This could include avatars, visual styles, or more user-friendly interaction methods tailored to different user profiles. In a training company, for example, you could assign Copilot a friendly teacher avatar that speaks in a calm voice to support students with learning difficulties. -
⚙️ Automated actions on websites:
Copilot can now autonomously execute tasks on websites with a simple text command. This feature, called "Actions," allows you to interact directly with platforms like OpenTable, Tripadvisor, Booking.com, and Viator, but it can also be adapted to many others. You can type: " Book a weekend getaway near Valencia, with spa and breakfast included ," and Copilot will handle the entire process in the background. Incidentally, it's very similar to what ChatGPT Operator offers. -
👀 Copilot Vision (AI vision):
This feature allows Copilot to analyze images or what you're seeing on your screen or camera. Available on Windows, Android, and iOS, it can help you visually interpret what's happening around you or on your device. Show it a picture of your living room and it will suggest how to rearrange the furniture to gain space and light, or detect an error code on the screen and give you step-by-step instructions on how to fix it. -
🔍 Deep Research:
An enhanced ability to gather, synthesize, and explain complex information from multiple sources (texts, websites, PDFs, images). It goes beyond a simple search, offering you verified and detailed content. If you need to understand how climate change is impacting European coastal cities, Copilot can provide a synthesis based on scientific articles, statistics, and visual maps. This functionality, also present in ChatGPT and Google Gemini (which we would argue was the first), allows educators, researchers, and consultants to combine several tasks into a single process. -
🗒️ Pages (idea canvas):
A digital workspace where you can write, take notes, organize your thoughts, and collaborate with Copilot on drafting texts or documents. This tool guides you from the initial idea to the final result. You start with the phrase " I want to write a letter to apply for a scholarship ," and Copilot helps you with the tone, structure, and even refines your writing based on your desired style. -
🎙️ Custom Podcasts:
Copilot can generate customized podcasts based on your interests. It also allows you to interact during playback to clarify doubts or expand on the content. It's a way to make learning accessible and adaptable to each person's pace. While you're cooking, you can listen to a Copilot podcast that clearly explains the fundamentals of the Spanish financial system, and if something isn't clear, you can pause and ask them to repeat it with simple examples. Many people cite Google's NotebookLM solely for this functionality. Therefore, we understand that this move by Microsoft has been carefully considered from the perspective of the possibilities this opens up. -
🛒 Smart shopping assistant:
Copilot can also act as a shopping advisor, identifying discounts, comparing options, and recommending products based on your needs. It's like having an e-commerce expert in your pocket. If you're looking for a monitor for graphic design, Copilot will compare models, read reviews, recommend the best-rated ones, and even alert you to any special offers you shouldn't miss.
With these new capabilities, Copilot is no longer just an assistant that answers questions; it's become a tool that anticipates, observes, remembers, and acts. It's no longer just about typing to it, but about conversing, collaborating, and letting artificial intelligence help you live, work, and learn more efficiently and seamlessly.
The rollout will be market-by-market, so stay tuned, it will arrive soon if you have a Microsoft Copilot license.
